The Northern Tier Penn State Alumni Chapter supports your efforts to secure funding for the SINGING LIONS.  They gave a well received concert here in April.  The proceeds we realized were used to fund our PSU scholarship fund.  Folks are asking for a return visit by the group in the spring of 2000.  We sent letters to the four people mentioned in your letter as you requested.  Good luck in your quest to keep the SINGING LIONS  singing!

Hi Tim & Courtney,

Thanks for your letter regarding the plight of the Singing Lions. I wanted to let you know I have e-mailed Dr. Spanier, Dr. Green, and Diane Ryan, asking them about the status of the group.

I hope to hear back from them soon. And, I hope that some resolution will come of this situation; I would hate to see your talented group fall by the wayside.

I also must congratulate you on your dedication and tenacity. I hope it pays off!

Good luck,

Michelle Kramer-Fitzgerald
Delaware Chapter President

Subject: Singing Lions Ask for Our Help

As a member of the DE Chapter of the Alumni Association, I felt that it was necessary to show my support of the Singing Lions. Our Chapter was presented with an award because of our Offer Reception and I feel that it would not have been such a success without the Singing Lions.

I also have fond memories of the Singing Lions visiting my dorm and singing Christmas Carols when I was a Junior. It really helped brighten up the season and add some much needed relief from finals studying!

I am hoping that you will all see that you must provide funding for this talented group of students - The show MUST go on!!!!!

Thank You,

Subject: Singing Lions

I have been made aware that the Singing Lions director has left after 14 years of service. I also have been led to believe that the search for a replacement (as well as financing for the group in general) has not been aggressively pursued.

As a PSU alumni, as well as a very active member of the Delaware chapter of the PSU Alumni association, I wish to encourage the rapid approval of financing for the Singing Lions Group. The Singing Lions are a critical component of Penn State, due to both the group's rich past and its current presence. As an institution with as much history as PSU, it is important to retain positive images and groups which span the years.

I would like to ask you to find a suitable replacement director for the Singing Lions, as well as allocate the necessary budget, as soon as possible. We have to keep the Singing Lions "singing".

Thank you.
